As compared to other major baby crib bedding manufacturers, Cocalo is a relative newcomer to the nursery bedding market. Founded in 1998, Cocalo designs and manufactures crib bedding sets and nursery room accessories under the licensed brands of Baby Martex, OshKosh B'Gosh, and Kimberly Grant. Increasingly in recent years, they have been introducing new baby crib bedding patterns under their own Cocalo brand.
Consistent with their historical emphasis on baby nursery themes, Monkey Business baby crib bedding and nursery room accessories, introduced to consumers in mid-2006, features playful looking monkeys as an interesting variation on the popular jungle theme for nurseries. Generally retailing for less than $200 for a 4-piece set, Monkey Business baby crib bedding appears to be a reasonable value as compared to competing collection of crib bedding sets.
Cocalo's Monkey Business 4-piece set baby crib bedding consists of a comforter, four-sided crib bumper, dust ruffle, and fitted sheet. Consumers should be pleased to see that Cocalo sells this baby crib bedding pattern in the 4-piece set. Cocalo, following the lead of other manufacturers, is increasingly introducing new patterns in 6-piece crib bedding sets which include a diaper stacker and valance.
The smaller crib bedding sets, combined with the availability of the other items as separate nursery room accessories, provides the consumer with the most flexibility. Unfortunately, none of the 4-pieces set of the Monkey Business baby crib bedding is available separately, thereby reducing consumer choices. In particular, an extra fitted sheet, frequently desired by consumers, is not available for Monkey Business baby crib bedding.
Cocalo makes a standard collection of coordinating Monkey Business nursery accessories to assist new moms in decorating the baby's room. With creative combinations of the same fabrics and decorative features used in the set are: musical mobiles, valances, diaper stackers, lamp shades, pillows, wall border, wall decorations, and blankets. All of the nursery room accessories coordinate perfectly with the Monkey Business baby crib bedding.
Cocalo chose an interesting combination of blue, brown, and yellow plaid fabrics to serve as the backdrop for this baby crib bedding collection. The theme combines the popular jungle theme, this time featuring monkeys, and a mild educational twist, with monkeys shown in groups of one, two, and three accompanied by the applicable numeral. Interestingly, a similar theme combination has been successful for Cocalo with Alphabet Soup crib bedding sets.
From a quality of fabrics and workmanship standpoint, Monkey Business baby crib bedding does well for this price point. While most of the patterned fabrics are of the less expensive printed (not woven) variety, this was probably a necessary compromise to maintain a retail price of less than $200. The most impressive feature of the Monkey Business baby crib bedding is its embroidery. The featured monkeys are very cute and the quality of workmanship of these embroidered appliqués is very good.
